Important Safety Information
⚠️ WARNING:
Before installing or operating the device, read and understand all safety instructions. Failure to follow these safety warnings may result in serious injury or death
1. General Safety Information
-
Use the device only for its intended purpose and in accordance with relevant certifications.
-
Comply with all local laws, safety regulations, and standards.
-
Keep the device out of reach of children.
-
Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the device.
-
Do not use or store the device in explosive atmospheres.
-
Operate the device only within the specified environmental conditions provided by the manufacturer.
-
When installing wired devices, take precautions to prevent electric shock.
-
Ensure that radio frequency (RF) emissions do not interfere with critical medical devices such as pacemakers.
2. Installation Safety
⚠️ WARNING: Improper installation may cause serious injury, equipment damage, or fire.
-
Always mount the device securely using the supplied screws. Insecure mounting may lead to dislodging, especially in high winds or on moving vehicles.
-
Secure all power and signal cables. Loose or unprotected cables can fray, fail, or cause short circuits.
-
Use only mating IP67-rated connectors with molded backshells provided by the service provider. Inadequate sealing can result in moisture ingress, corrosion, and device failure.
-
Proper grounding of the device is essential. Failure to ground the unit correctly can cause unexpected currents that pose a serious risk of shock or fire.
-
Use only cables of correct gauge. Incorrect wire sizes may overheat, causing fire and serious injury.
-
Use only qualified cables and accessories supplied or approved by the manufacturer or service provider.
-
The device must be powered via an external fuse or a current-limited power source to prevent high current draw during unexpected shorts.
-
Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during installation.
-
Always follow the official installation guide provided with the product.
3. Battery Safety
-
Only use battery types approved by the manufacturer (e.g., Digital Matter).
-
Do not expose batteries to extreme temperatures:
-
Below -30 °C or above +60 °C may cause battery leakage, overheating, or combustion.
-
-
Do not puncture, crush, or cut batteries.
-
Handle damaged batteries with care – they may emit toxic gases or corrosive substances. Avoid contact and never replace them in enclosed spaces.
-
Only approved charging equipment may be used.
-
Do not use any battery that appears swollen, leaking, or physically damaged.
-
Dispose of batteries responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws and environmental regulations.
4. Transport and Storage
-
Store the device in a cool, dry location, preferably in its original packaging.
-
Avoid direct sunlight during storage.
-
Ensure compliance with ICAO and IATA shipping regulations, especially when transporting devices with lithium batteries.
-
Devices with LiPo batteries may lose charge over time in storage – recharge periodically if required.
5. Environmental Considerations
-
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or UV radiation.
-
Make sure the Ingress Protection (IP) rating matches the intended operating environment.
-
Keep the device away from water, moisture, and corrosive substances.
-
At the end of its service life, dispose of the device responsibly, in accordance with local waste and recycling laws.
6. Maintenance and Inspection
-
Regularly inspect the device for wear, corrosion, or mechanical damage.
-
Clean only with a soft, damp cloth – do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
-
Apply firmware updates as recommended by the manufacturer.
-
Inspect mounting and wiring connections regularly using qualified personnel and suitable tools.
7. Emergency Procedures
⚠️ In the event of overheating, fire, or malfunction:
-
Disconnect power immediately and contact technical support.
-
Handle any signs of battery leakage or swelling with extreme care.
-
If fire occurs, use extinguishers approved for lithium batteries (check the battery’s safety data sheet).
-
Ensure that power supplies are properly fused to limit current in the event of a short circuit.
8. Special Environments
⚠️ Explosive Atmospheres / Blasting Areas
-
Always turn off the device in areas marked “Turn off two-way radios” or “Blasting Area”.
-
Do not operate the device in potentially explosive environments. Sparks from the device could ignite gases or flammable materials, causing explosion or fire.
⚠️ Medical Devices (e.g., Pacemakers)
-
Individuals with pacemakers must:
-
Keep the device at least 8 inches (20 cm) away when in operation.
-
Immediately turn off the device if interference is suspected.
-
-
