Function Mobile Network

As we can see in the topology, there are possibilities to use different products from the Teltonika Networks portfolio depending on the size of the vessel and the desired solution. There are numerous applications where internet connectivity is essential on a boat: weather forecasts, voyage planning, video surveillance. However, when it comes to leisure services, the marketing value can be just as significant. With public WiFi service on a boat, tour operators can offer added value to consumers while offsetting the cost of mobile data tariffs through interactive captive portals and digital advertising. In addition, such tools provide valuable data to further develop a growing customer base.

As you can see in the topology on the right, we have a professional mobile router RUT950 built into a smaller boat that sails not far from the shores. The 4G LTE CAT4 mobile router is equipped with two SIM card slots, so it may switch to the secondary SIM card of the main provider’s mobile operator, be lost, the signal is very weekly or the roaming scenario is activated. It also provides managed WiFi service for passengers with captive portal functionality. Finally, it has 4 Ethernet ports for connecting additional devices such as switches or digital signage screens.

In the topology on the left, a larger vessel is equipped with our most powerful and advanced enterprise mobile router – the RUTX12. This device has two 4G LTE CAT6 mobile modems working simultaneously with the load balancing function and can provide speeds of up to 600 Mbps. As two mobile operators provide connectivity to the device simultaneously, it is possible to ensure uninterrupted service and utilise the connection quality between two mobile operators. RUTX12 also features AC WLAN with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands to provide connectivity for all your mobile devices on the yacht. You can also utilise the maximum speed available for multimedia applications via 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. As shown in the topology, the router is also connected to our PoE switch TSW100, which provides data and power connections to CCTV cameras for security purposes. Of course, it is desirable to have remote access to the yacht so that you can keep an eye on your property at all times. As larger boats and yachts are further from shore where it is more difficult to cover mobile operators, our routers can be installed together with our MIMO antennas or other third party antennas and accessories to ensure better reception.

Both RUT950 and RUTX12 devices are compatible with the Remote Management System – IoT platform for Teltonika Networks devices. Using this function, you can ensure that you are always remotely connected to your property. You can set the alerts when the boat or yacht has left the geofence area you have specified on the platform.
